I loved this campsite for it's prairie feel and spaciousness. But then, there weren't so many other campers when we were there, the temperature was nice and warm, and there was a rainbow + a beautiful sunset. The highway was visible, the trains audible, but not annoying (while these annoy me easily, normally). No frills, but everything you need. Much prefer this type of campsite to the stay-all-summer family and too full tourist campgrounds.
Basic tenting facilities but that's all I needed. Bathrooms & showers were adequate. The only issue I had isn't the campground's fault. You would probably only notice when tenting, but Shelby is a noisy place at night. Even thought I was quite a distance away, the railroad yards are VERY noisy. About the time I would fall asleep again there would be another big bang, or siren or whatever.
Not that the pin on google isn't in the proper place, it should be a few hundred yards north.
Did not stay here. Stopped hoping to be able to use their septic station. Person I talked to was rude and did not even allow me to say we were happy to pay for the service. Would not recommend stopping there.
Mean old operator. NOT DOG FRIENDLY!!!! "No dogs! No dogs!" He kept yelling. Did not stay!!! Kept driving to Evergreen camp ground in Havare and it is wonderful!
I was shown a large dog area much larger than most of the sites I've been to in the last three months. All sites are pull through. Lewis n Clark is a series of circles. Reading reviews people stat campground is on a hill and they couldn't get levied. My site was not perfect, in three months on the road I have yet to see a absaluty levied site. 5 stars are for the value. The owner is a expert on the Glacier National Park.
